Four generations of the Ljung family have aspired to produce the most comfortable and technologically advanced beds on the market. The Swedish roots are reflected by the highest quality and long tradition. Increasing comfort, performance, and longevity have been the DUX goals since the beginning. Our technology works... and we have the history to prove it.
The long story short
On a Cold Night in Chicago
In 1924, the Swedish chocolate maker Efraim Ljung checked into a small hotel in Chicago and was fascinated by how comfortable the bed was. Using a small pocketknife, he carefully cut open the mattress to discover flexible springs inside.
From Chocolatier to Bed Maker
Back home in Sweden, Efraim shifted his focus from his confectionary business and began devoting all of his time experimenting with flexible steel springs of varying strengths and elasticity. He created DUX and began manufacturing mattresses in Malmö in 1926.
Local to Global
In the U.S., the history of DUX stretches back to 1977 with the opening of a showroom and offices in New York.
Ten years later, DUX introduced the DUXIANA marketing concept in Europe, Great Britain, and the United States.
A Family Affair
After 90 years, our premium Swedish brand is still 100% family-owned. Efraim Ljung’s four great-grandchildren, Henrik, Charlotte, Anders, and Oscar have readily assumed Efraim’s role, expertly running the company along the path set forth by their ancestors.
